Tanzanian youths will soon benefit from an upcoming programme of launching Robotic and Spaceflights in the country after a forum discussion from 23rd to 25th next week in Dar es Salaam. The African Centre for Economic Transformation (ACET), in a recently released African Transformation Index 2023 (ATI), says repeated economic shocks and uneven growth have slowed the continent’s overall economic transformation after two decades. The index indicated that since the year 2000, many African economies had become less diversified and less competitive globally. According to the index, the slow progress was making countries on the continent more vulnerable to future shocks, which made them more likely to struggle with debt and less likely to achieve crucial transformation milestones in support of sustainable development. Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), has revealed that war victims in need of life-saving surgical assistance at the Bashair Teaching Hospital in South Khartoum, Sudan, are now at risk following a shortage of surgical materials. Development Diaries reports that the hospital, currently run by MSF in collaboration with the country’s Ministry of Health and volunteers, is running out of surgical supplies due to a three-week blockade of medical supplies by the military. The Provincial Disease Surveillance and Response Unit (PDSRU) and Directorate General Health Services (DGHSS) Hyderabad have formed an investigation team with support of District Health Officer (East) Dr Shakeel Ahmed Qureshi to investigate the suspected cases.
