THE Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) has recorded the highest amount of turnover in the history of the bourse. It reported revenues of P3,8 billion (278 million) for the period January 1 to September 30 this year. On a comparative basis, turnover for the same period in 2022 amounted to P882,3 million, indicating a record turnover increase of 330,5 percent. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised concerns over Nigeria’s increasing debt-to-GDP ratio, according to its recent report ‘Africa: Special Issue: In Pursuit of Stronger Growth and Resilience’. The report predicts that the ratio will rise by 4.3% from 38.8% in 2024, continuing an upward trend that began in 2019 when the ratio was at 21.9%. Bank Al-Maghrib, Morocco’s central bank, has bought €200m of shorter-dated sustainable development bonds from the World Bank comprising three and five-year tranches of €100m, both via Natixis as agent bank. Bank Al-Maghrib bought the fixed-rate bonds as part of its management of foreign currency reserves.
